John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
The love of God is an ocean too deep for us to fully fathom. It’s more wonderful than you think it is. It’s stronger than you believe it is in your strongest moments of faith. It’s true and steadfast even when you don’t feel it in seasons of affliction. And there is one place where the love of God is most powerfully revealed: on the cross.
There we behold the Father giving up his only Son, and the Son experiencing forsakenness. There we see the eternal love of God overflow to immerse undeserving sinners in bliss. Remember the love displayed on the cross this morning, and remember that, despite how you might be feeling, you are loved beyond your deepest hopes and longings.
Oh how deep, how wide, how long
Oh how vast the love of Jesus
Oh how sure, how sweet, how strong
Oh how vast his love for us.
